Oceanor Sandnes will supply camera systems to Transocean

In order to further enhance safety at crane operations, the worlds largest drilling company, Transocean Sedco Forex (USA), has recommended Oceanor's deck crane boom cameras as standard equipment on their fleet of 180 mobile offshore drilling and production units.

The Transocean Sedco Forex recommendations are an important recognition of camera systems produced by Oceanor ASA.

According to Transocean Sedco Forex standard each crane will have a camera systems installed unless a documented risk assessment indicates that the crane boom camera system will not improve the safety of crane operations, especially for blind lifts (new construction and existing cranes).

Oceanor was competing with several well-known CCTV suppliers. The evaluation criteria were hardware, technical support, track record, price and delivery time.

Crane Boom Camera Systems reduces the risk at crane operations, ensuring the best possible view of areas under and close to the load. Several studies show that crane operations can easily cause severe accidents, and one method for preventing such is to install crane cameras in order to further enhance safety at crane operations.

The Oceanor Crane Boom Camera is certified for operation in hazardous areas and incorporates a high-resolution colour camera module with 12 x zoom and Auto-Focus. A joystick in the crane cabin operates camera remote zoom and focus, and images are displayed on a monitor.

The first specified Crane Systems are already under installation on board Transocean rigs.
