Strong exhibitor participation at first-ever Industrial Trade Fair Moscow

- Companies from across the globe to exhibit at premiere

Hannover/Moscow. The premiere of Industrial Trade Fair Moscow (ITFM), which will take place September 28-October 1, 2010, at the All-Russia Exhibition Center, has attracted strong exhibitor participation. "The brisk response to ITFM indicates we have brought our events to Russia at the right time," commented Wolfgang Lenarz, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Messe AG, at a recent press conference in Moscow, adding, "The Russian market has enormous potential, and our customers are eager to take advantage of that potential with this new event."

More than 270 companies will exhibit at Industrial Trade Fair Moscow, with roughly 85 percent coming from abroad. More than 20 percent will be from Germany, and Italy will account for 16 percent of the total.

Industrial Trade Fair Moscow consists of four separate yet related events: CeMAT RUSSIA, MDA RUSSIA, Industrial Automation RUSSIA, and Surface RUSSIA. Collectively the events will use 10,000 square meters of floor space and focus on material handling and logistics; power transmission and control and fluid power; factory and process automation; and surface treatment, respectively. Deutsche Messe is organizing ITFM in cooperation with the ITE LLC Moscow.

"The Russian government's modernization campaign provides a superb opportunity for international enterprises to position themselves in the Russian market. We expect this region to bounce back in the medium to long term, as already indicated by the positive trends of several key economic indicators," explained Lenarz.

CeMAT RUSSIA: More than 100 exhibiting companies will be present at the debut of CeMAT RUSSIA. Major forklift manufacturers Jungheinrich, Still, Linde, and Mitsubishi will be joined by such system providers as Knapp from Austria, Stöcklin from Switzerland, and viastore from Germany. The global market for intralogistics products experienced a sharp drop last year, but manufacturers are already detecting signs of recovery. "In 2009, exports of German intralogistics products to Russia were down 50 percent year on year," explained Christoph Hahn-Woernle, Managing Partner of Stuttgart-based viastore systems and President of the Intralogistics Forum within VDMA (the German Engineering Federation). "Currently we are observing an upswing in demand. CeMAT RUSSIA is coming at exactly the right time and will be able to deliver some major impetus to the Russian intralogistics market."

MDA RUSSIA: Featuring more than 130 exhibitors, MDA RUSSIA is the biggest trade fair under the ITFM umbrella. Power transmission and fluid power technologies are in particularly strong demand in Russia. This was confirmed by Hartmut Rauen, Member of the Executive Directorate of VDMA, who said, "For German industry, Russia is not only the leading sales market in Eastern Europe by a comfortable margin, but also one of the main export markets worldwide. Exports to Russia by the German power transmission industry have gone up steadily from 2001 to 2008 and in 2009 are still at a very decent level of EUR 89.1 million. It is only logical to show your colors in this leading market with your own proprietary exhibition. Since MDA RUSSIA is being organized under the ITFM umbrella, we are expecting crossover effects with a sustained positive impact on visitors."

Industrial Automation and Surface RUSSIA: Russian industrial production grew by 10.2 percent the first few months of this year, and there is a burning need for automated production processes to enhance the quality and efficiency of that production. Phoenix Contact from Blomberg, Germany, is benefiting from these high growth rates and is harnessing Industrial Automation RUSSIA to its Russian sales campaign. Andreas Rossa, Sales Director at Phoenix Contact, confirmed the positive trends in Russia, "Since October-November 2009, sales in Russia have picked up again and projects that were postponed are again in discussion. Since the beginning of 2010 the growth of our Russian subsidiary has been above average. Projects from 2009 which were scheduled to be equipped with our products are now being implemented. These essentially, however, consist of projects which are geared to the production of raw materials. Other industries continue to have problems obtaining the required financing from the relevant sources. As a general rule it can be said that economic growth in the Russian Federation continues to depend strongly on the production of primary commodities as well as the corresponding demand for those commodities."
